The Doctors and Dentists Protection Union (DDPU) services :
1. Employment & Regulatory
Comprehensive Professional disciplinary matters in Employment, regulatory matters (before the General medical Council)
2. Employment & Contract disputes
Representation in member’s legal action arising out of Employment, and for those who are not in Employment but have an agreement for the provision of services as a medical professionals or dental professionals, then representation in contractual dispute arising from such agreement
3. Additional benefits
Representation in Coroner’s Inquests or, in Scotland, Fatal Accident Inquiry
4. Indemnity for NHS work
For NHS Hospital doctors, professional negligence indemnity for certain specified Fee-Paying Services (previously known as Category 2 Work) and indemnity for Good Samaritan work
5. Criminal/Civil prosecutions
- – Advice and representation in defending a member where work as a medical professional or dental professional results in-
- – Prosecution in a court of criminal jurisdiction
- – Civil action under legislation for unlawful discrimination on the grounds of sex, race, disability, age, religious belief, or political opinion
- – Civil action being taken against the member under legislation for Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 or the serving of a Statutory Notice under Health and Safety legislation
- – Civil action being taken against the member as a trustee of a pension fund set up for the benefit of employer’s employees, and
- – Civil action being taken against the member under section 13 of the Data Protection Act 1998 including indemnification against award of compensation under Section 13 of the Data Protection Act 1998 (provided that registration has been approved by the Information Commissioner).
